Housing

HELP WANTED

The Housing EnterpriZe is one of seven work sectors of the YouthUSA social enterprise program.  The sponsor’s intent is to identify local needs and qualify, certify and sustain service providers to meet needs.

The program reinvests revenue from grants, charitable giving, and individual entrepreneurship to create meaningful work opportunities.

Historically, The Free African Society emerged in the late 1700s as part of the rise in civic organizing following United States' independence in the Revolutionary War. It was also directly related to its leaders' desires to create a separate group to meet African-American needs; they rejected the second-class status they were forced into at their white-dominated, former Methodist church. The Free African Society was designed as a mutual aid society to help support African Americans; especially the sick, jobless, orphaned and widowed.

YouthUSA Asset Managers can post local needs via The Conference Center or share ideas via the comment section below.

  1. As stated, The Housing EnterpriZe is one of seven work sectors of the YouthUSA social enterprise program. The sponsor’s intent is to identify local needs and qualify, certify and sustain service providers to meet needs. In these critical times of foreclosures, evictions and high rent, families may have to open their doors to those in need. But, will the person who has graciously opened their doors be expected by those in need to provide ALL their needs without anything in return? Is this fair? Or, when the person in need of housing has "bounced back", will they try to be a blessing to those who helped them along the way? It is possible in today's economy to charge a fair price, properly maintain a rental unit, and be assured that you will get the rent on time and in full? There is a shared responsibility of the renter and the landlord just as there is between a buyer and seller of real estate.

  2. As the years have gone by ignoring what our Freedoms Fighters did for us, I suggest, the African-American Community has forced and encouraged their own 2nd class citizenry which has put us into the negative position we are in today.
